READ
FIRST: Before downloading and installing Adobe Acrobat,
check to see if you have it already installed on your
computer. Many applications come with Adobe Acrobat either
built in or as an add-on feature so you already may have it
on your computer. To check if Adobe Acrobat is already
installed on your system click HERE.
If you do not see the accompanying PDF file and message in
this browser then continue with the download and
installation of Adobe Acrobat (this a free program).
This
operation is done in two steps. First you must download the
Adobe Acrobat program file and then install it. The download
is 8.5 megabytes and will take approximately 25-30 minutes
over a 56K dial-up connection. Click on the operating system
that you use below to start the download process then follow
the instructions. When prompted to save the file to Disk or
to Open it; choose Save to Disk and save the file to
your Desktop (or to a place on your computer that you can
find easily). The file for the Windows 95/98 operating
system is called ar500enu.exe. If you are not using
Windows 95/98 you will need to remember the name of the file
you are saving. Once the download is complete return to this
page.
Choose the
operating system you
use to start the download procedure.
(this will open a new window which you will use to complete
the download)
Once the
download has finished, find the file on your Desktop (or
wherever you have chosen to save it) and double-click on it.
Then follow the installation instructions as prompted.
Once you have
finished installing Adobe Acrobat you can return to this
page and click HERE
to test your new copy of Adobe Acrobat. If you do not
see a message, please read each step of these instructions
and make sure that you have followed them completely. If you
still have problems reading Adobe Acrobat files (PDF files)
then you can contact NCJAR directly for assistance at
